PLANES DE RENDEROS, EL SALVADOR

December is one of the most beautiful times to visit El Salvador—dry season means sunny, breezy days and cooler evenings, especially in the mountains where we’ll be celebrating. If you're flying in, the closest and only major airport is El Salvador International Airport (SAL), located about 45 minutes from San Salvador. Pack for tropical weather, and bring a light layer for the cooler nights.

What to Do

ACTIVIDADES EN EL SALVADOR

If you’re making a trip out of it (and we hope you do!), there’s so much to see, eat, and experience while you’re here. El Salvador is full of hidden gems — from seaside spots to mountain towns, unforgettable food, and beautiful nature. Here are some of our favorite ways to enjoy it.

EAT & DRINK

We’re not in El Salvador full-time, but these spots are always on our list when we visit.
By the beach, we love Covana Seaside Kitchen and La Bonita Beach Club for fresh seafood, cocktails, and ocean views.
In the city, El Xolo is a must for modern Salvadoran cuisine, and Ostero Chepe Aleta is perfect if you're craving ceviche or something super local.
For rooftop vibes, check out Moris and Roof Garden—great food, great energy.

PLAY

Whether you’re here to unwind or explore, El Salvador has it all. El Tunco is our go-to surf town—beach bars, live music, and epic sunsets.
For something more peaceful, head to Lago de Coatepeque for crystal-clear waters and lakeside lunch or boat rentals.
Tamanique offers dramatic black sand beaches (just watch out for the waves!). In San Salvador, we love El Mirador for its city views and relaxed vibe. Also check out the National Library or catch a show at the Teatro Nacional—there’s always something happening.

EXPLORE

We’ll be celebrating in Planes de Renderos, and it’s absolutely worth exploring beyond the wedding.
Just outside the city, you’ll find scenic miradores, streetside pupuserías, and peaceful trails through Parque Balboa and La Puerta del Diablo—a dramatic cliffside lookout with sweeping views of the mountains and San Salvador.
If you’re spending time in the capital, wander the historic downtown, visit the Museo de Arte de El Salvador (MARTE) or the Museo Nacional de Antropología Dr. David J. Guzmán (MUNA), and stop by a local market or café for souvenirs and a taste of daily life.
